Background
World maps are an important part of many games. Games such as Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Minecraft, Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, and Genshin Impact all have massive worlds to explore. The world map gives players access to important information such as a quest locations, towns, or other interesting areas to explore. Designing the world map is an important step in the game design process. For this project, students will use an online resource to develop a world map for a potential game.
Product
Students will create a world map image and submit it to Focus.
Content Rubric
- Map contains the Light Compass stamp in the bottom right corner. [10 Points]
- Map contains a Title Plate in the upper right corner with the world name written on it using Text Tool. [10 Points]
- Map contains the Scale stamp, labeled with units of measurement. [10 Points]
- Map contains at least two Marker stamps, indicating points of interest on the map. [10 Points / 5 Each.]
- Map contains at least one Heraldry Swords, indicating an important battle site. [5 Points]
- Map contains at least one Keep, labeled with a Heraldry Flag and name. [5 Points]
- Map contains at least one Farm, labeled with a name. [5 Points]
- Map contains at least one Human City, labeled with a name. [5 Points]
- Map contains at least three different biomes (i.e. forest, swamp, tundra, coastal, etc.) [15 Points / 5 Each]
- Map shows an investment of time and effort to create a high quality product. [Subjective] [25 Points]
- Total Points for Content Rubric: 100
