Background
Sound and music are both important aspects of game design. It can add excitement and tension to games through "boss music" or fast paced sound effects. It can add drama during important parts of the game story. It can also be soothing and relaxing. Good game designers think about the sounds and music they use in their games.
Product
Students will create a selection of sound effects to use in a potential game. They will use the software program Audacity to edit them.
Content Rubric
Students will need to create seven unique sound effects for a game. Examples include:
- Sound effect for collecting a power-up, upgrade, or special item.
- Sound effect for a ranged / projectile attack.
- Sound effcet for a melee (close combat) attack.
- Sound effect for when the player is damaged.
- Sound effect for when the player is healed.
- Sound effect when a player scores a point.
- Sound effect when a player moves, walks, or runs.
- Sound effect for an enemy attack.
- Sound effect for an enemy taking damage.
- Sound effect for a player dying.
- Sound effect for an enemy dying.
Process Rubric
- EACH File name is lastname_firstname_sound_effect_name. [5 Points Each / 35 Total]

- File format is Wave (.wav), MP3 (.mp3), or Ogg-Vorbis (.ogg) [5 Points Each / 35 Total]
- ALL sound effects are submitted as a compressed folder (.zip file). [20 Points]
- File name should be lastname_firstname_sound_effects
- For example: taylor_jaquan_sound_effects.zip
- Project is submitted to Focus by 11/15/20 at 11:59PM. [50 Points]
