Standards & Benchmarks
- 27.0 Create a working game or simulation as part of a team.
- 28.0 Create a game design production plan that describes the game play, outcomes, controls, interface and artistic style of a video game. The student will be able to:
- 28.01 Use industry standard game design production documents to create a game design production plan.

- Why is the control scheme for racing games important to the game play?
- What is more important in a racing game: fast graphics or high quality graphics?
- What information is important to the player in a racing game?
- What will you do today to be better than you were yesterday?
Mise En Place [~2-3 Minutes]
Every day you should:
- Login to DCPS OneView.
- Read your DCPS e-mail.
- Follow any additional instructions from the teacher.
Instruction [~5-10 Minutes]
Students will review the Triangle of Game Design.
Students will discuss some of the requirements for their Game Design Documents.
Students will discuss the requirements for their Game Design Documentation.
Work Period [~30-45 Minutes]
Complete the Game Design Triangle Document. You will need to create your document using Microsoft Word (OneView version is fine). This is an example of what your document should look like.
Previous (Late) Assignments
LATE! If you have not done so, finish the My Favorite Game Presentation.
Finish working on their Post-Secondary Career Academy Plan. Please refer to this Student Example Plan when working on your plan today. To receive full credit on this rough draft students must complete:
- Student Information (Name, ID #, Career Academy, Graduation Year)
- Post-Secondary Goals (At least one.)
- GPA for 4th Quarter of Last Year (9th grade students may not have a GPA listed if you did not take high school classes in middle school.)
- Login to Focus.
- Click "My Info" tab.
- Click "Grad. Reqs." tab.
- Look for Custom GPA
To find your GPA:
- Other High School Goals (at least one.)
- "Your Why?" Section (One paragraph.)
- "Expected Challenges" Section (One paragraph.)
Installing Python
The next thing students will need to do is install the Python software so you can start writing and executing code. Please follow along with the instructions in the video below. If you are using a Chromebook, you may need to search the Microsoft Store or your App Store for Python software. If it is not available, you MUST get access to a regular computer to install this sofware.
Once you have Python installed, please make sure to Create Your GitHub Account and Submit the First Assignemnt.
Break Down [~5 Minutes]
Before you leave please do the following::
- BACKUP your data in at least two locations.
- RESTART the computer.
- TURN OFF the monitor.
- COLLECT your materials.
- WAIT quietly to be dismissed.
- PUSH in your chair when you leave.
- THROW away any trash in the trashcan as you leave.
Homework
Finish any class work not completed during the period.
